The start of the school day is a crucial part of our routine here at Tapawera Area School. It’s a time for students to connect with their peers and teachers, settle into the classroom environment, and prepare their minds for a day of learning. When students arrive on time, ready to start by the 8:45 am bell, they get the very best start to their day. This sets up positive routines and allows them to engage in their learning from the moment class begins fully.
When a child is late to any lesson, even by just a few minutes, they can miss vital instructions, the introduction to a new topic, and that important time to connect with their classmates. It can be unsettling for the child and disruptive for the entire class.
To ensure we are all on the same page and working together to support our students, we have developed a clear and supportive framework for managing lateness. We want to work in partnership with you, our whānau, to address any barriers to getting to school on time.
Please take a moment to look at the process below:
Our aim is not to be punitive, but to be proactive. We understand mornings can be challenging, and we are here to support you. If you are experiencing difficulties with getting your child to school on time, please reach out to their teacher or Gemma Walsh gwalsh@tapawera.school.nz (attendance support - school-wide)
Thank you for your partnership in helping every student at Tapawera Area School have the best possible start to their day.
